Mixed Media
I find that my application of paper, drawing, and paint forgiving; allowing me to add and subtract elements as I felt necessary to investigate the essence of everyday experiences and circumstances from the meaningful to the mundane including narrative, humanistic interpersonal dialogue, and the structure of relationships. Visual expression and the process of art making allow me the perspective to transform random, seemingly meaningless events into contemplated moments of significance for my own understanding as well as to have viewers experience their own truth within the work. The splices of paper and washes of paint in my work try to visually blend the balance between spontaneity and structure, yet also serve as the symbolic mirror of the constant swell and swale of finding understanding in my personal and professional life.
